Rave reviews for Shabbaholics!
The Shabbatones' most recent CD was a big hit with the critics, receiving high marks from the Recorded A Cappella Review Board! According to RARB's Thomas King, Shabbaholics "has a palpable energy infusing each of the tracks. The life force courses through each note and phrase. From the percussionist to the soloist, each person knows his or her role in making this recording breathe, run and soar like a fine machine working together at peak fitness." BOJAC 2 features the premier Jewish a cappella groups in the country, and it is available for purchase on our website!
Best Albums of 2009
The Recorded A Cappella Review Board (RARB) recently awarded our fourth CD, Friday Night Lights, an honorable mention as one of the best a cappella albums of 2009! Only 15 albums were listed RARB's picks of the year, and the Shabbatones were the only Jewish collegiate group on the list. According to Jonathan Minkoff of RARB "The Shabbatones' Friday Night Lights is a meteorite hurling towards the Earth, burning up the sky and leaving onlookers breathless at its mesmerizing intensity. Leads are raw, agile, and compelling... The Shabbatones actually rock, rather than merely performing rock repertoire."
