University of Pennsylvania
SHABBATONES

Founded in 2001, the Shabbatones are the University of Pennsylvania’s premier student-run Jewish a cappella group. We are known for our dynamic arrangements and engaging performances.

We specialize in a blend of popular American, Israeli, and Jewish music. All of our arrangements are created, directed, and performed entirely by students. Our members and alumni include both undergraduate and graduate students from a wide range of academic fields, including engineering, psychology, biology, political science, and economics. While we come from diverse Jewish backgrounds, we are unified by a love for Jewish music and a commitment to being the voice of one of the largest and most vibrant Hillels in the nation.

For over twenty years, the Shabbatones have performed for audiences at Penn and around the world. During the academic year, we regularly appear at synagogues, schools, and community events throughout the Northeast. Each January, we go on tour and have brought our music to cities across the United States. Highlights include singing at the White House Chanukah Party, performing at Phillies and Sixers games, and taking the stage at Disneyland.
